It’s been almost a year since the theatrical release of George Miller’s post-apocalyptic action movie, Mad Max: Fury Road. From the acting, scenery, cinematography, and costumes, Mad Max: Fury Road cemented itself as much more than just an adrenaline-filled case of road rage in the desert. A major tool used to effectively illustrate Max Rockatansky’s latest adventure is sound. While important to almost any movie, Fury Road utilizes sound as a key character in one of the best films of 2015 – a feat rewarded with the the Oscar for Best Sound Editing. Now audiences can relive all of the brilliant sound clips from the film thanks to Hearing Mad Max: Fury Road.
“Hearing Mad Max: Fury Road” is the work of Zackery Ramos-Taylor. The editor weaved together clips from the film to underscore just how much the sounds of Fury Road impact the story. From rusty car doors clanking metal, and engines revving, to a barrage of gunshots, car wrecks, and of course, the explosions, “Hearing Mad Max” ties it all together in 1:40 of satisfying sonic jambalaya.

This film uses sound to enhance and add texture to the story in order to create an auditory post-apocalyptic world full of chaos, adrenaline, and suspense. From hearing the sound of the protagonist slowly rising from the sand to mechanized vehicles exploding one after another, this film seeks to add sound to every action shown.
In other Mad Max news, Charlize Theron’s portrayal of Imperator Furiosa has helped catapult her into the driver’s seat of the upcoming blockbuster Fast & Furious 8.
