UK artist Skepta has been teasing his fourth album for some time now. It was only last month when he alerted fans about the progress of the LP in an interview with i-D. “I’m finishing my album Konnichiwa this week,” he said. “Finished! Done! Three years of my life encapsulated on a CD.”
This work will be available to listeners next month. According to an Instagram post by Skepta, the LP is due on May 6. He also unveiled an interesting cover. Konnichiwa’s artwork looks like a first-class letter posted from London. He also spoke on the album’s obvious influence, stating, “Japan’s been trying to get me out there to do shows, but I didn’t want to go there without my album,” he said. “I want my whole Konnichiwa setting to be correct when I go there.”
Skepta will be traveling a lot more in the coming weeks. Shortly after unveiling the LP’s release date, he revealed details about an upcoming tour. He’ll be kicking off the 10-date No Fear tour this weekend at Coachella. Other cities on the trek include Los Angeles, Portland, New York, Toronto, and Dunham.
Drake has been speaking on Skepta’s talent in recent weeks. There was a rumor that the Toronto rapper signed to Skepta’s BBK imprint, but no confirmation.
Take a look at the dates for Skepta’s upcoming tour, and be sure to check for Konnichiwa on May 6.
